Harness The Power of Your Flow

My Journey

My personal journey with the Fertility Awareness Method

Nessa Ball with her dauther thanks to the Fertility Awareness method

Today for my first blog, I want to share more about my journey with the fertility awareness method (FAM). I will be sharing how I discovered FAM and how I started applying the knowledge and principles in my life.

I really have come full circle with the FAM method and successfully used it in the following scenarios:

First, to easily become pregnant with my first child.
Then, to avoid  pregnancy postpartum.
And now, while trying to get pregnant again.

A disclaimer, for my TTC followers, this post is not meant to claim that knowing your cycle will allow you to get pregnant right away. I am simply sharing my personal experience with my first pregnancy to highlight how effective the method is at avoiding pregnancy and how it can help achieve pregnancy depending on your current life cycle.

However, there are so many other factors involved in getting pregnant, as you will see with my journey to get pregnant a second time (which is still unfolding).

Let’s start at the beginning. In August 2014, during a really transformative period of my life, I decided that I was sick and tired (literally) of being overweight, unhealthy, and feeling sluggish all the time. So, after watching a few health documentaries, my husband and I decided to take charge of our health and drastically change our lifestyles. I am not going into detail about what we did because it has evolved through the years to our current lifestyle choices. But, I will say during that period, we went full-on holistic and natural in regards to everything that we put in, on, and around our bodies and our home.

We cut out junk food, processed food, GMOs, threw out all our commercial, toiletries, and household products, and replaced them with organic local food natural products, and added movement to my life. But, after a few months, I still felt like there was something holding me back from reaching the level of health and connection to my body that I desired.

After a few months, I still felt like there was something holding me back from reaching the level of health and connection to my body that I desired.

That is when I decided to abandon all hormonal birth control. I made an appointment to remove my IUD and chose to use only natural birth control. My research quickly led me to the FAM method being the most effective method. After a few weeks, I had fallen in love with FAM, and I finally truly connected with my eternal compass, my sacred flow.

For me, the whole experience was profoundly ✨ spiritual, and that is the part that I am passionate about teaching.

After a few months, I started to talk to other women around me about the risks of hormonal birth control and all the benefits I had experienced through tracking and charting my cycles. I was shocked that no one (not even my most🌱crunchy friends) knew much about the FAM method.

I spoke with other females in my family and found that most had no idea what was happening with their bodies. My lineage was reliant on patriarchy, full of misinformation about our divine cycle.

Right then, I promised myself that I would teach this knowledge and wisdom someday and the day is now.

Fast forward to 2017 when My husband and I decided that it was time to try and conceive  our first child. At that point, I was so in tune with my body and hormonal cycle that I knew exactly when I was fertile and when to have intercourse to maximize our chances. During my second cycle of TTC, we consciously conceived our first child. Nine months later, I gave birth naturally to a little girl in the comfort of my home.

The birth was amazing and so powerful! I credit my birth outcome in part to my sacred connection to my womb and to the divine. Please note that I am simply sharing my experience and not suggesting that anyone with a different birth experience lacks a sacred connection. I strongly believe that babies choose the way to come to the world. I am certain that my confidence in my body to birth my baby strongly impacted how I entered labor and progressed through the different phases of labor.

A few months postpartum, I started feeling my body cycling again without really having any hormonal change biomarkers. However, I still started to track and chart to get back into the habit and see if I could find some pattern. It was not until I was 22 months postpartum that my true cycle came back and I experienced ovulation and menstruation.

A little note, during pregnancy and throughout those 22 months postpartum, I tracked the moon phases and honored our Grandmother Moon in place of my true cycle. This ritual deepened my relationship with the divine, mama earth, and myself.

And now, I have been tracking and charting my cycle for a year and TTC for the past six months. Even though it is taking a little bit longer to conceive, I am not worried about it because I know my body and know that there is nothing wrong with my cycle. I trust and believe in divine timing.

I hope that my vulnerability in sharing my personal story gives you the inspiration and curiosity needed to get started on your own journey with FAM.
